The George River Internship (GRI) is a Kuspuk School District program which brings together highly motivated high school students who are interested in learning more about the area’s natural resources.

In 2021, the Georgetown Environmental staff joined the GRI for a week on the George River.

During the GRI, students helped biologists count salmon, sample fish for biological data, collect habitat information, and complete a curriculum of learning activities.

There were no costs for the students to participate in the GRI. Students also received a $500 stipend. High School Students can earn 0.5 credits in River Systems Ecology.
